More than 101,000 people visited regional zoos across Egypt and Cairo's Fish Garden in Zamalek during the Eid al-Adha holiday, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. The figure includes visitors to zoos in Alexandria, Kafr El Sheikh, Sharqia, Fayoum and Beni Suef, alongside the Fish Garden, which saw a steady flow of holiday crowds throughout the break.
To prepare for the Eid rush, the ministry said facilities operated under heightened readiness measures, with a focus on visitor safety, animal welfare and crowd management. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection campaigns were carried out across all sites, while veterinary teams provided continuous care for the animals.
According to Hamed Al-Aqnas, head of the General Organisation for Veterinary Services, operations teams remained on standby throughout the holiday, coordinating visitor flow and overseeing day-to-day activities across participating zoos and gardens. By the end of the Eid holiday, the ministry recorded more than 101,000 visits across the six sites.
